TRIMEDX ensures medical device performance and compliance with Tricentis Tosca and NeoLoad
TRIMEDX used Tricentis Tosca and NeoLoad to reduce critical bugs by 50%, improve test execution, and ensure compliance across healthcare systems with faster, more reliable releases.

TRIMEDX: Powering reliable clinical operations
TRIMEDX provides comprehensive clinical engineering services, cybersecurity, and clinical asset management solutions to healthcare providers. Their mission is to partner with hospitals to optimize the management of medical devices, ensuring they are safe, reliable, and ready for patient use. A key component of their operation is a highly customized ServiceNow platform, which facilitates workflows for technicians to process work orders, manage repairs, and return devices to service.
In the strictly regulated healthcare environment, maintaining software quality and performance isn’t just a goal for TRIMEDX—it’s a requirement for maintaining crucial ISO certifications and serving their hospital partners effectively. But ensuring fast, error‑free performance across a customized platform presents ongoing challenges, especially when any slowdown can directly impact technicians and the clinicians they support.
To meet these demands, TRIMEDX uses Tricentis Tosca and NeoLoad to automate testing, validate performance, and prevent defects before they reach production—helping the company deliver the speed, consistency, and compliance its hospital partners depend on.
The challenge: Maintaining quality and performance in a regulated environment
As Manager of QA and Automation Engineering, Dan Black and his team are responsible for ensuring TRIMEDX’s software operates flawlessly. The company operates under ISO 27001 for information management and ISO 13485 for its quality management system, both of which require regular audits and stringent proof of process integrity.
The primary challenge was ensuring that their customized ServiceNow application and other internal tools could support technicians efficiently without performance degradation. Any slowdowns or bugs could directly impact a technician’s ability to process work orders, update device statuses, and get critical medical equipment back into the hands of clinicians.
“When our applications don’t perform well, that means that the end users aren’t able to process either the dashboards and the information that they need in order to do their day jobs,” Black said. “So, having applications that are performant is highly critical for our business.”
The team needed a robust testing solution that could not only validate application functionality before each release but also provide the performance data and audit trails necessary to meet their compliance obligations. They required a way to catch bugs before they reached production, prevent broken code from being deployed, and ensure that continuous integration of new code didn’t create unexpected bottlenecks.
A strategic partnership with Tricentis for comprehensive testing
TRIMEDX turned to Tricentis as a strategic partner, implementing Tricentis Tosca for automated functional testing and Tricentis NeoLoad for performance testing. This combination gave the QA team the power to validate their applications from end to end.
With Tosca, TRIMEDX automates the scripting and execution of test cases for their customized ServiceNow workflows. These tests run nightly, providing consistent feedback on the health of their applications. The team has integrated Tosca with Power BI and Azure DevOps to create detailed dashboards. These dashboards offer clear, actionable insights into test failures, helping them quickly distinguish between environmental issues, data problems, or critical production bugs.
“Using Tosca has made our core testing team have an easier ability to script and execute. It’s given us good dashboards through both Power BI and Azure DevOps in order to display results so that we can communicate them not only with the technical team, but with the product side as well,” Black said.
NeoLoad was implemented to address the critical need for application performance. By running performance tests, the team ensures that new code integrations do not introduce slowdowns or stability issues. This proactive approach allows TRIMEDX to maintain its biweekly release schedule with confidence, knowing the platform can handle the demands of its users.
The success of their testing program is also rooted in a strong partnership between the QA and product teams. By deeply understanding the business use cases from the beginning, the testing team creates more effective and meaningful automation scripts.
“I’d advise people that are writing automation scripts to intimately know the business use case before they try and write and automate their scripts,” Black noted.
Results: Higher quality releases and enhanced cross-team collaboration
By implementing Tricentis Tosca and NeoLoad, TRIMEDX has significantly improved its testing practice and overall software quality. The nightly automated runs in Tosca show better execution rates with fewer failures over time, demonstrating the continual improvement of their test scripts.
The ability to catch bugs before they enter the production environment has been transformative. It allows the team to review code for biweekly releases, ensure its accuracy, and, on the rare occasions it’s needed, halt a release to prevent faulty code from impacting customers.
This data-driven approach has also improved communication across the organization. With clear dashboards, the QA team can effectively share results with both technical stakeholders and the product team, fostering a shared understanding of application quality. This collaboration ensures that the testing strategy is closely aligned with business goals, delivering a higher level of quality and reliability for the essential services TRIMEDX provides to the healthcare industry.
